ZIPPY PINEAPPLE CARROT SMOOTHIE

126 Smoothies for Athletes

1/2 cups pineapple chunks
1 cup soy milk, any flavor
1 carrot, peeled and sliced
1/3 cups pineapple juice
1 piece ginger, peeled and minced
Honey to taste
Place all ingredients in blender container and blend until everything is smooth. Add ice if you like it frosty. The ginger adds the zip.

My Fav Recipe:
2 x bananas
1 tbps of honey
1 tbps of vanilla extracted
Handfull of walnuts

Top up beaker with milk. Best to put little in at a time so adjust to your preference. Blend into smoothy.

Why My Fav: Helps stop muscle cramp when finish playing golf. Also great flavour.

My Fav Recipe:
1 navel orange, peeled
¼ cup fat-free half-and-half or fat-free yogurt
2 Tbsp frozen orange juice concentrate
¼ tsp vanilla extract
4 ice cubes

COMBINE the orange, half-and-half or yogurt, orange juice concentrate, vanilla, and ice cubes. Process until smooth.

Why My Fav: As a kid I loved creamsicles and this just reminds me of them and it is really refreshing.

My Fav Recipe: Apple & Hemp seed Smoothie
1/2 – 1 tsp Cinnamon
1Tb Honey
2T Hempseed
1C Chunk & Frozen Apple
3 Ice cubes
Blend well, if too thick add some water or more ice

Why My Fav: All ingredients help with increased metabolism, appetite control indigestion (good Detox), HBP. I have Diverticulitis, HBP, Hi Cholesterol, & Low Metab. Since I have been drinking this once sometimes twice a day I have lost weight, my stomach feels better, and I’ve got a lot more energy now. My intake on “junk food” has dropped, I exercise more and have lots of antioxidants.

My Fav Recipe: My banana & strawberry energizer
1/2 cup strawberries
1 banana
1/2 cup plain yogurt
5 almond nut
1tps of honey
1/4 cup guava juice
and blend it together.

Why My Fav: My recipe is high in vitamin C and fiber and calcium. I drink this as many times because it gives me energy and boost my willingness to achieve my goals.

Fruit smoothie
1 cup plain greek yogurt
5 large strawberries
9-10 blueberries
1/2 orange peeled
1/2 apple cored and peeled
A small amount of milk or grape juice to thin if too thick honey to taste Place all ingredients in blender container and blend until everything is smooth. Add ice if you like it frosty.

Why My Fav: This is my favorite because it contains fresh fruit and with the added honey it gives me a boast in the late evening.

Easy peasy avocado smoothie
1L of milk
1 ripen avocado chunks
dash of honey
ripen banana or two (optional)
apple (optional).
Blend everything in a blender till smooth and enjoy!

Banana/Honey Smoothies
MAKES (2)
1 cup plain non-fat Greek yogurt
1 banana
1 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon honey
pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
Mix the yogurt, bananas, orange juice, and honey in a blender until foamy. Pour immediately into two glasses. Garnish with nutmeg.

My Fav Recipe:
1/2 Red Dragon Fruit
1 cup Strawberry
1 Kiwi
100 gram frozen vegetable (lettuce or spinach or pakcoy)
1 cup chilled coconut water and yoghurt in 1:1 ratio (hydro-coco)
1/2 cup brown sugar to taste
Place all ingredients in blender container and blend until everything is smooth. We don’t need to add ice as the vegetable, coconut water and yoghurt are cold.

1. Liquidise all ingredients until thick & fluffy.
2. Pour into tall glass (decorate with 2 or 3 strawberries if the fancy takes you).
3. Makes 4 glasses

500ml Low Fat (2%) Milk
2 medium Bananas
60 grams (4 heaped tablespoons (“Musashi Bulk”) mixed Protein Powder Vanilla Flavour
1 tablespoon Organic Raw Honey
Blend Medium Speed in electric blender 30 sec

Why My Fav: Has fibre of the bananas Replaces depleted sugars after exercise. Just right in context of being satiated (not over full.) With the milk, is absorbed slower than in water and reduces fatigue avoids too big a sugar spike (as from sugery powder drinks). Is shiny when mixed as is VERY YUMMY

My Fav Recipe:
Immune System Booster Juice

Wash and put through juicer:
2 large celery, including leaves;
2 large carrots, unpeeled;
1 apple, unpeeled;
1/2 to 1 in (1 to 2.5cm) fresh finger root, unpeeled;
1/2 lemon, peeled;
1/4 cup (60ml) fresh of frozen blueberries, cranberries or elderberries

If making in a blender: Put 3/4 cup (180ml) water in blender, add cut-up celery and blend. Then add remaining cut-up ingredients; blend until smooth. Line a large measuring cup or bowl with muslin or use a fine sieve and pour liquid through.

Serves 1.

Why My Fav:This juice is great to use when you feel a cold or flu coming on. It is antiseptic, detoxifying, diuretic and cleansing to the liver. And it tastes delicious!!!

1/2 cup strawberries (i use frozen for year round)
1/2 banana
honey to taste
blend all until smooth.

Why My Fav: This smoothie has a great flavor & replenishes lots of nutrients & glucose lost during my workout. Sometimes I’ll add a scoop of powdered protein if I had a hard workout.

Why My Fav: On Saturdays l normaly ride 100+km’s before breakfast. This is the smoothy l always have when I finish. It tastes fantastic and fills me up. The ice frothes the milk, the ice cream thickens the smoothy up and the honey adds a great edge to the taste.
